What does a workshop cost?

Public workshop tickets are €25 online or €35 in-person, with €5 off when booked 2+ weeks ahead. 1:1 sessions are €50 (bundle of 3 for €135). Private group workshops are €35 per person online or €45 in-person (minimum 5 people). Early childhood settings can book Seedling (€495, up to 2 rooms), Sapling (€695, 3–4 rooms) or Oak (€895, 5+ rooms) packages.

Do participants receive anything to take away?

Yes — every participant receives a take-home booklet with the ideas, prompts and reflections from the session.

Are the workshops in-person or online?

Both. Workshops can be delivered at your setting, in a shared community venue, or over a webinar link.

Do you offer packages for crèches, preschools or schools?

Yes — three tiered setting packages: Seedling €495 (up to 2 rooms), Sapling €695 (3–4 rooms) and Oak €895 (5+ rooms). Each includes a morning observation, written strengths report, a 30-minute workshop with each room's team, a specialised booklet per room and certificates for staff. Optional 3-month follow-up visit €150.

Play-based learning is an approach in early childhood education where children explore, experiment and make sense of the world through play. It looks like child-led activity, open-ended materials and adults who follow the child's lead — with real learning about language, emotion, problem-solving and relationships happening underneath the fun.

Why is play-based learning so important?

Play is how young children build the brain pathways for regulation, curiosity and connection. In Ireland it's also the foundation of Aistear, the national curriculum framework for early childhood. When adults slow down and join a child's play, children feel safe enough to try, fail, express big feelings and learn — which is exactly what workshops at Roots of Wonder help parents and educators support.

It includes sensory play, imaginative or pretend play, physical play, constructive play and social play. Each type builds a different skill, from fine motor and language to empathy and self-regulation.
